[Class 28 (ii)] A moisture-proof sausage casing comprises concentric sleeves of plastic sheet material and animal intestine, the plastic sleeve 2 being formed from two sheets 3, e.g. of polyvinyl chloride, polyvinyl - copolymers, chlorinated rubber or vinylidene chloride, seamed together at 7 to provide lengthwise seams 4. Sheets 5 of intestine are placed over the plastic and sewn at 6 over the seams 4 at the joins 7. The casing is turned inside out and filled. The plastic sleeve may be strengthened by reinforcing fibres and may carry print.
