Abstract
595,899. Glass manufacture. JEROME ET BONNEFOY ET CIE. SOC. ANON. July 21, 1945, No. 18742. Convention date, Aug. 27, 1942. [Class 56] A continuous circulation to and from the furnace b is provided in the channel a, through the bottom of which charges of molten glass are forced by a feeding device e, f by making the channel communicate at each end with the furnace. A propelling device i may be provided in the channel, preferably between the feeding device and the exit from the channel to the furnace ; in the form shown, the propelling device comprises a hollow rotary member communicating at j with the glass and which during its rotation alternately subjects the inside of the rotary member to suction and to atmospheric pressure. In other forms, the propeller comprises single or multiple paddles. The feeding device comprises a piston e reciprocated vertically above the outlet f and preferably surrounded by a rotating sleeve g.
