[Classes 3 (i) and 3 (ii)] A sign or decorative lighting device comprises projecting transparent rods, lenses &c. which delineate a legend or design, a source of light being located behind the rods. Each rod is mounted, separately or in a group, in a base piece adapted to be fixed in a background. The base piece may be transparent and may be integral with the rod or rods. A rotary disc 43, having openings 49 which may be filled with colour filters, may be mounted behind the rods 42 to give a colour changing or scintillating effect to the light passing through the rods. The discs may have a pulley rim for rotation by a tentioned belt which passes round all the discs and is driven by a motor, or may be provided with teeth for engagement by worms carried by a flexible shaft. Fig. 7 shows magnetic disc 43 with teeth which are attracted by three electro magnetic elements 45, 46, 47 energized in succession to rotate the disc. A casing 48 holds a lamp bulb. In another form an eddy current motor is employed, and in a further modification an air jet impinges on vanes on the rim of the disc. Convection currents from the lamps may be utilised for this purpose. Specification 372,857 is referred to.
