[Class 83 (iii)] A boring tool or other cutting-tool holder comprises a shank A of circular or polygonal section provided with a bore 12 at one or both ends to receive a cutter 10 and split diagonally at 15 to form a yielding tongue 17. A screw C passes through holes in the shank and tongue and is screwed in one of them, preferably the shank, to close the tongue 17 and grip the cutter. If two cutters are provided, one may be inclined to project beyond the end of the shank and the other may be perpendicular to the shank. The head of the screw C may be entirely recessed into the shank or may project slightly as shown.
