Abstract
592,859. Electric irons. DEHN, F. B. (Chicago Flexible Shaft Co.) Jan. 17, 1945, No. 1430. [Class 39 (iii)] [Also in Groups V and XXII] A heating element for a sole plate of an electric iron comprises a resistor 26 embedded in a ceramic skeleton structure 25, having portions shaped to conform with the outline of the sole plate and additional body portions 32 and 33 extending lengthwise within and laterally spaced from the adjacent outer body portions, the resistor 26 being arranged to traverse substantially the whole length of the body. Terminal plugs 39 and 41 are included in the structure 25, which is moulded from a refractory high-temperature cement, and dried and baked after the resistor 26 has been embedded. Finally, a metal sole plate, e.g. of aluminium is cast about the element, forming the sole plate.
