Abstract
592,709. Horticultural appliances. BODRERO, G. Dec. 11, 1944, No. 24816. [Class 6 (ii)] Flowers, flowering shrubs and the like picked in the bud stage are brought to full bloom by supporting the flowers &c. with their cut-ends in flowing warm water at 18‹-20‹ C. and simultaneously submitting the parts out of the water to water vapour at 80‹-90‹ C. The flowers may be supported in racks 41 on trays 19, slidable within a double-walled cabinet 8, 9, the space between the walls being packed with insulating material 10. The trays have cross-partitions near each end, one having openings 22 near the base, and the other 23 being less in height than the depth of the tray. Warm water from a reservoir flows into one end compartment, out through the openings 22, past the flower stems, and over the lower partition escaping by a pipe 25 into the tray beneath, the end compartments of which are reversed compared with those above. Water-vapour enters by pipes 32 and flows round baffles 35. The process may be carried out in any enclosed space to which the water and water-vapour can be supplied.
