[Class 135] A stream of fluent material is divided between a number of branch pipes c, d by means of a helical member e of which the leading edge g cuts symmetrically across the entering stream whilst the trailing edge f makes contact with the junction of the branch pipes in such manner as to direct an equal volume of material into each branch pipe. The edge f may be secured by a pin-and-slot connection so that it can be pre-set in position. As shown, the leading edge g is a separate pivoted member which can be adjusted by a handle j to vary the ratio of the streams of material into which the main stream is divided. In an alternative construction, the whole helix is pivoted about a vertical axis and the leading edge carries two flaps pivoting in opposite directions.
