Abstract
592,519. Switches with quick action. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. April 7, 1945, No. 8640. Convention date, May 6, 1944. [Class 38(v)] A telephone switching key comprises two frame parts 10, 11 having a plurality of pairs of holes oppositely disposed in each, and a block 14 mounting the contact stacks 16, 17, all held together by a single screw 12. The cam body 24 is mounted on a pin 30 in one pair of holes, and carries on a pin 23 a roller 22 which engages the contact actuating springs 20, 21, and is retained on the pin 23 by a dependent lip 26 on the frame part 10. Projections 52 on the frame engage projections 51 on the cam body, limiting its stroke in either direction to the "locking position " wherein the actuating springs 20, 21, exert no return force on the cam. The stroke may be further restricted on either or both sides, to the " non-locking " position by inserting pins 54 in the upper pair of holes 29, or a two - position key may be obtained by inserting the pin in one of the lower holes 29, which blocks the motion of the cam on that side. A double-sided key may be similarly constructed Figs. 6, 7, 8, (not shown).
