Abstract

591,699. Cooling radiators for aircraft &c. WORCESTER WINDSHIELDS & CASEMENTS, Ltd., SOUTHALL, H., and DEAKIN, T. M. May 5, 1945, No. 11477. [Class 64 (iii)] In an oil or other liquid cooler of the kind described in Specification 580,678 one or more rows of by-pass tubes are enclosed in hollow casings each surrounding a line of tubes. The rows of vertical by-pass tubes 9, 10 are each encased by a single sheet metal casing or by casing sections 13 arranged to fit between pairs of horizontal tie plates through which the cooling and by-pass tubes pass. The casing for the by-pass tubes 10 in each of the outer rows is open at top and bottom and comprises a flat inner wall 14 and a corrugated outer wall 15. The casings 13 round the inner rows of by-pass tubes may each enclose the whole row of tubes within a common space or one wall 17 may be depressed at one or more places 18 to form two or more enclosed spaces. The casings have V- sectional forward edges 13a and rear edges of similar shape or square section.
