[Class 5 (ii)] A combined storage and measuring appliance for animal foodstuffs has a hopper arranged to communicate with a measuring chamber provided with a window on which is a graduated scale to indicate the contents of the chamber, the foodstuff being subsequently discharged through the floor of the chamber to a feeding trough. In the form shown, the upper portion 1 of the appliance has its front and rear walls splayed out to form a hopper 2 and the lower portion 3 contains two measuring chambers 8. A transverse vertical partition 4 extends upwards to the bottom of the hopper 2. Two slides 5 form the floor of the hopper and are withdrawn through slots 7 to allow food. to fall from the hopper into the measuring chambers. Two pivoted flaps 9 shut off the measuring chambers from the mangers and are held in position by tension springs 10. Built into the front wall of each chamber 8 is a transparent window 12 on which a scale 11 is marked to gauge the contents of the chamber. To transfer food from the measuring chamber 8 to the manger 16, the handle 15 of the flap 9 is swung upwards. An agitator 13 in the lower part of the hopper is manipulated by the handle 14 to prevent food clogging.
