Abstract
589,841. Fish-filleting machines. ATLANTIC COAST FISHERIES CO. March 22, 1945, No. 7296. Convention date, May 20, 1944. [Class 28 (ii)] Fish being fed through a filleting machine are positioned in the moving conveyer trough by a fixed gate 62 consisting of converging plates 68. The gate holding the fish temporarily by the wedging action of its tail in the gate thereby ensuring its being presented tail first and belly up after which the gate is released by a cam on a conveyer which allows it to pivot up about 52 clear of the fish. The fish are received in troughs formed by plates 28, Fig. 3, on blocks 18 traversed through the filleting machine by endless chains 16. Spaced cams or tripper block surfaces 36a to 36f on the conveyer chains first operate to raise a feeler 104 whereby through a bell crank 100 and an arm 96 a ratchet 84 is disengaged from a pawl on the lever 72 attached to, and moving with, the gate. The gate 62 is then free to pivot about 52 thereby rising to release the fish. This pivoting up being maintained or operated by the cams 36c etc. until such cams pass away from contact with the shoe 76, the gate then pivots down into position to engage and position the next fish and being located in this position temporarily by the ratchet 84 engaging a pawl on the lever 72. An adjustable stop screw 112 is provided to adjust a point at which the ratchet is freed and another adjustable screw 122 determines the position of the bracket 56 and the gate plate 68 attached thereto. Specifications 452,688 and 466,674 are referred to.
