Abstract
589,829. Recording-apparatus. LANDIS & GYR SOC. ANON. Jan. 16, 1945, No. 1333. Convention date, Dec. 4, 1943. [Classes 106 (i) and 106 (iv)] A paper-feed mechanism for apparatus, which records any magnitude, depending on time, on paper previously printed with time marks, comprises a pick-up device whereby, upon the recurrence of the mains potential after an interruption, the paper is advanced and the source of energy for driving the pick-up device is replenished according to the amounts delayed during the interruption. A mains-driven motor 1 drives a shaft II intermittently as a cam 25 is freed from a locking lever 24 controlled by a clockwork escapement (not shown) and each periodic revolution of the shaft II advances a paper strip 39, winds a spring barrel 7 and rotates a sun-wheel 41. Each half revolution of a shaft IX, as determined by the clockwork escapement, frees a shaft VIII to make half a revolution under the power of the spring barrel 7 and through a sun-wheel 16 causes a planetwheel 17, fixed on a shaft X, to revolve and so allow a lever 18 to free locking levers 20, 23 and the pawl 24, the consequent action of the shaft II and sun-wheel 41 reversing the rotation of the shaft X and relocking the system. However, upon an interruption in the mains potential, the drive to the shaft II fails and the system remains unlocked. The spring barrel 7 continues its intermittent drive to the shaft X and the lever 20 moves out of range of the lever 18 as a pinion 27 drives a travelling nut 28 along a shaft XII. When the current is resumed, the shaft II, being free to rotate, advances the paper strip, winds the spring barrel and, through the sun-wheel 41, reverses the movement of the nut 28 and lever 20 until the latter finally engages the lever 18 and locks the shaft II, by which time due compensation has been. made in the paper-feeding and rewinding processes.
