Abstract

589,029. Harmonicas. MAGNUS, F. H. March 17, 1944, No. 5030. Convention date, Feb. 20, 1943. Addition to 586,842. [Class 88 (ii)] A reed plate for a harmonica as claimed in the parent Specification is moulded of a synthetic resinous material with the reeds in tune. As shown in Fig. 4, the reeds 2 are formed integrally with a body portion 1 to form a reed plate D, the body being provided with'lugs 3 which engage in notches 5 formed at the end of slots 4 in a slot plate E. A pair of such units D, E are mounted above and below a cell block A, Fig. 1, which is formed with a plurality of cells, one for each pair of reeds, closed at one end and open at the other to form a mouth piece. The instrument has upper and lower casing sections B, C, united by screws 9 and serving to clamp the reed plates and slot plates in position. Each casing section has sound chambers 11. communicating with the slots 4 and opening, at the rear of the instrument. The instrument is provided with flap valves 17 of synthetic resinous material.
