[Class 120 (ii)] A winding-machine comprises, in combination, a plurality of filling winding units each including thread-traversing means, an abutment for co-operating with the units and means for causing relative movement between the units and the abutment, the latter being shaped and located to act on the thread-traversing means of each unit to progressively shift the zone of traverse from the base to the tip of the package during the relative movement. A plurality of winding spindles 62, each carried by a frame element 40, running upon rails 11 and driven by an electric motor 63 which also drives a cam 72 to effect the traverse of the guide T through a reciprocating rod 66, move in a closed path counter-clockwise, rails 600, 601 gradually moving the guide T along the traverse rod 66 from the base towards the tip, the guide frictionally engaging the rod 66, to build up the package. The elements 40 are each linked to a chain 14<1>, moved by sprokets, 15, one of which is motordriven. Upon completion of the wind, an inclined rail 473 brings the guide back to the base of the bobbin, and a rail 590 moves a spring biassed lever 100d carried by the outer end support of the bobbin, to release the wound package, a new bobbin being supplied by a magazine 112 at X X. The rail 473 is followed by another rail 473a which effects movement of the traverse guide T to build a starting bunch of the fresh package. Specification 522,664 is referred to.
