Abstract

587,772. Television receivers. GEN ERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and ESPLEY, D.C. Oct. 6, 1943, No. 16373. [Class 40 (iii)] In a television system employing signals suitable for high-definition reception., e.g. above 450 lines per picture, a cheaper form of receiver giving less accurate definition utilizes only every nth scanning line and preferably every alternate one, the intervals between, the used lines being used as fly-back periods for the line-scanning time-base. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 3, the gas-discharge tube 8 fires on alternate line impulses, producing the output wave for 5, Fig. 2, which is applied to limiter tube 12 to produce the wave form shown at 6. This is applied at 20 to suppress the cathode-ray during the fly-back period, which is of equal duration to the line scan. The integrator tube 18 operates to produce the time-base voltage having the wave-form shown. at 7 for providing deflecting voltages for the cathode-ray beam in the receiving tube, these voltages appearing at 21, 22.
