[Class 138 (i)] In a dish-washing machine with at least one washing compartment and a final rinsing compartment, through which the dishes pass in baskets on a track, means are provided for using a portion of the rinsing water for an initial cleansing of the dishes before entering the washing compartments, or for transferring heat from the rinsing water to water supplied to an initial cleansing compartment. The apparatus is identical to that described in Specification 584,112. The claims are confined to the above-mentioned means for initial cleansing, and to modifications by which, in combination therewith, a portion of the rinsing water is supplied to a washing tank, in particular through a spray above the dishes, or through a conduit branching out from that leading the rinsing water to the initial cleansing compartment.
