[Class 99 (i)] An adjustable pipe clamp for securing a resilient gasket 16 which retains the caulking material 15 of a spigot and socket joint comprises a plurality of arcuate sections, Fig. 3, each having at its ends two. radially spaced series of sawtooth serrations 32, 33 and 36, 37 arranged in herringbone formation and disposed in a plane inclined to the plane of the gasket 16. The serrations 36, 37 are formed on an extension 35 and are located on the opposite face of the section from the serrations 32, 33 so that the serrations on one section interlock with adjacent serrations of the next section. The entire clamp Is bolted to an anchor ring 18 by bolts 19 passing through holes 28 in the sections. The sections are adjustably secured together by bolts 39 which pass through holes 34 in one section and through slots 38 in the adjacent section. The sections have inclined gasket-engaging surfaces 22 oppositely inclined to the plane PP, Fig. 6, of the interengaging serrations and are strengthened against distortion by the provision of outer and inner flanges 24, 23 and radial ribs 31. In order to obtain a continuous gasket-engaging surface when the ring is adjusted near its maximum diameter one or more filler elements 52, Fig. 8, are located with their end faces abutting the end faces of adjacent ring sections and their outer edges 54 engaging flanges 61 extending from the extension 35.
