Abstract
581,941. Feeding material to grinders. PORTEUS, G. April 20, 1944, No. 7296. [Class 78 (i)] Material is fed through the outlet of a hopper to the chamber of a grinder by a reciprocating plunger, the driven end of the plunger and its driving mechanism being situated inside the hopper and enclosed to protect them from the material in the hopper. In the embodiment shown, the plunger 8 is driven by an eccentric 5 enclosed in a casing 6 and material is fed towards the outlet of the hopper by rollers 7. A weighted flap valve may be pivotally mounted above each roller to control the fall of the material. The grinder is of the kind comprising rotary beaters in the form of radial bars which co-operate with the sides of the grinding chamber 4.
