Abstract

581,433. Paper punches. SHANNON, Ltd., and POSNER, B. B. March 29, 1945, No. 7924. [Class 31 (ii)] A punch for forming a plurality of holes in papers is described for the production of two holes by means of punches b formed of punching pegs b<3> attached to steel hook-formations b<4> which engage an eccentrically mounted shaft e operated by a lever c. The hooks b<4> can slide along the shaft e but move vertically therewith. The pegs b' are guided by apertures in a bracket f built of three layers of strip steel formed with guide holes f<7>, f<8>, with a cutting hole f<9>, and with a positioning seat f<10>, for the papers. The base strip f<2> is formed with locating pegs g, g<2> for engaging holes h, h<2> in the top plate a<3> of the box-base a, and the bracket f is finally fixed in the required position by a screw h'. The shaft c is controlled by a spring d anchored at d' to it and at d' to the box base. The papers are positioned by the aid of a guide n which is adjustable transversely and is formed with a series of notches either one of which can be spring-pressed to engage a fixed tooth. The box is provided with a window m so as to enable the operator to see when the wastage needs clearing, and the spring d can be detached from the anchor d' for transport purpose.
