[Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group XXII] A centrifugal casting device comprises a number of superposed mould units 1, 2 adapted to rotate about a central vertical axis, each unit having casting cavities 3 and gates 7 connecting them to a sprue 4 extending and terminating in the lowest unit. To prevent any material from flowing into an upper unit until all the units below it are filled, the sprue may be enlarged at the joints where the gates occur or these may be upwardly inclined or both. The inclined gates may take the form of cones 7, Fig. 7, terminating in horizontal portions 17 each of which may feed two cavities 3a. Specification 579,097, [Group XXII], is referred to.
