[Class 17 (i)] Channelling; trimming.-A rough rounding and channelling machine, particularly for use by shoe repairers, wherein are provided in combination a work-table h<2>, a feed or presser foot m<1>, a trimining or chopping knife l by which the sole is trimmed, and a channelling knife i, has the trimming knife l movable with the presser or feed foot m<1> by the same member so as to be in constant vertical relation to it. The knife l which has an L-shaped cutting edge is mounted in a slide block l<5> carried on: a lever l<1> on a supplementary shaft g arranged vertically above a main driving shaft d mounted between brackets b, c on the machine frame a. The knife l is movable vertically by an eccentric l<2> on the shaft d and an eccentric strap l<3> secured to a pin l<4> on the slide block l<5>. The presser foot m<1> is mounted on an adjustable holder m, also carried by the lever l<1> which is pivoted on a block n on the shaft g, the arrangement being such that the foot m<1> receives an elliptical movement. The channelling knife i is mounted on a slide i<1> in a lever k pivoted on the shaft g and actuated by an eccentric or cam k on shaft d, engaging a roller k' on lower end of the lever k. The work table h<2> is mounted on a slide h' carried in a lever h which may be depressed by operation of a treadle to permit insertion of the work. The table h<2> is adjustable and is set so as to be just clear of the knife i during its movement.
