579,901. Protective coating compositions. TURNER, SIR F. R. G., SLATER, I. G., and KENWORTHY, L. March 18, 1944, No. 5091. [Class 951 A coating composition for the protection of surfaces against high temperature oxidation, atmospheric conditions or salt water, consists of a mixture of whiting, water glass, Portland cement and water. Colouring materials may be added. The preferred proportions are, by weight, whiting 10; water glass 6; water 4¢; Portland cement 1. The whiting and cement are mixed intimately, the water glass mixed with hot water, and the solids and liquids finally admixed immediately prior to the application of the composition. Specified surfaces are those of mild steel, wood, stone, brickwork, plaster and wall-board.
