Abstract

578,653. Grinding-machines. FOUQUET, E. Sept. 8, 1941, No. 11461. Convention date, Nov. 22, 1938. [Class 60] A grinding-machine, in which the work is traversed at a speed not less than one metre per second, is provided with means for continuously feeding a trueing device to a grinding disc continuously fed to compensate for wear and the rotational speed of which is increased as its diameter diminishes. The disc 85 is carried by a slide 5 which is fed by a nut 16 engaging a screw 13 carried by a slide 3 ; the slide 3 is movable vertically for initial adjustment by a similar screw and nut. The trueing tool 91, in the form of a roller, is carried by a further slide 6 fed by a nut 9 actuated. by a screw 10 carried by the slide 5. The screws 13, 10, of opposite pitch, are driven by intermeshing gears 11 and 12 splined thereto and driven by a worm 15 and clutch 33, 34 from a shaft 36 which is driven from a motor 42 and also drives, through a change-speed gear and, clutch, the screw 17. The speed of the disc 85 is increased as the disc wears by adjusting the brushes of the driving motor 74 carried by the slide 5. The brushes are carried by a gear 79 in mesh, through an intermediate gear, with a gear 77 meshing with a rack carried by the slide 6, rotation being proportional to the relative movement between the slides. The trueing roller 91 is driven by a separate motor 90. The work table is vertically adjustable and is reciprocated by an automatically reversible motor.
