[Class 33] A U-sbaped sanitary trap 10 has an offset storage chamber 16 which when viewed in plan is of U-snape an( has an inflow limb 18 connected to the up-leg 14 and an outflow limb 20 provided with a U-shaped bent portion 22 terminating in an outflow branch 24 Cleaning screws 28, 30 are provided at the bottoms of the U shaped portions 10, 16 respectively. The upper part of the leg 14 may be provided with an enlarged portion of in verted truncated conical form. In a modification, Fig. 6, the part 10 is shallower, has two cleaning holes 36 opposite each other and the bend 22 is at right angles and parallel with, the part 10. A short outlet branch 40 directed horizontally is provided with an outlet 42 and the bottom 44 of the part 22 forms a dam at the outlet end of the part 20, a small bulging portion just below the dam 44 forming a weir, and the bottoms of the limbs 18, 20 sloping upwards. The trap may be made of ferrous or non-ferrous metals, as a unitary structure or in two parts connected by a spigot and socket joint.
