Abstract

577,006. Fuze-setting apparatus. STACEY, C. F. Sept. 5, 1940, No. 13911. [Class 9 (i)] Relates to fuze-setting apparatus of the kind in which the operations of (a) clamping the shell in the socket and causing the rotatable gripping members to engage the timing ring of the fuze, and (b) rotating the gripping members to set the fuze, have to be performed in sequence. According to the invention, both (a) and (b) are performed by a single controlhandle. In the form shown, operations (a) are effected by a crank g, and operation (b) by a lever c on shaft d. The control-handle a is a bell-crank lever pivoted on lever c and connected to crank g by a link e and a slotted link f transversely slidable upon shaft d. In order to ensure that the crank g shall be operated before lever c is moved, the latter may be frictionally held by a leaf spring h mounted on the casing of the apparatus. The fuze-setter shown is of the kind described in Specification 577,004.
