Abstract

An anti-dimming material consists of absorbent cloth or similar material, or regenerated cellulose, cellulose acetate, or other transparent material, in which is absorbed as a wetting agent the di-octyl ester of a sulphosuccinate, such as sodium sulphosuccinate. In the case of cloth, the amount of wetting agent may be 50 per cent of the weight of the cloth. The regenerated cellulose may be in the form of sponge or it may take the form of a sheet steeped in the wetting agent and rolled upon itself to form a cylinder which may be pointed to facilitate the application of the ester to eyepieces &c. Respirator eyepieces may be made from cellulose acetate containing about 5 per cent of the wetting agent.
