Abstract
573,950. Launching platforms for aircraft ; camouflaging. UNDERWOOD, G. C. L. Aug. 28, 1939, No. 24704. [Class 20 (i)] [Also in Group XXXIII] Floating platforms which can be used for supporting camouflage material for obscuring stretches of water, such as a, Fig. 1, and also as landing platforms for aircraft comprise a number of rigid units b hinged together and supported above the surface of the water by floats. Each unit is of triangular construction and formed of bars k, Fig. 5, with a vertical bar l at one end attached to a float m, and each corner is provided with a hinging arrangement o, p whereby the units may be hinged together with spaces d between them. The first rows of units are provided each with three floats and to these are attached units with a single float, and the ends of the platform thus formed are filled in with units having two floats. The spaces enclosed may be of triangular or hexagonal shape. Larger units may have rigidly fixed to them smaller units of the same shape and the spaces between may be partially obscured by small similar units hinged to the larger units.
