[Class 116] An apparatus for dispensing predetermined quantities of petrol &c. comprises a casing, the lower part A of which is fixed, whilst the upper part C turns as a turret on the lower part, the turret carrying a hose 15, a single register for indicating the quantity of liquid dispensed and a viewing window 21 set in an inclined face of the turret so that the turret may be swung into any required radial line to enable the purchaser to view the register. The turret runs on rollers 30, Fig. 3, on a track at the upper end of the fixed lower casing and carries the support for the delivery nozzle 16, the hose 15 being draped in a broad loop to extend from front to back of the turret. The petrol &c. is supplied by a pump 71 driven by an electric motor 68 and delivers through a swivel coupling 50, 55 to a meter 38 and thence through a pipe-line 41, 43, 46, 47 to the hose 15, visual indication of the flow being provided by a glass globe 44. The meter indicates the quantity delivered and value on a register R, a variator V being provided in known manner for applying the necessary corrections according to the price of the petrol &c. The swivel coupling 50, 55 is provided on the inlet side of the meter to avoid errors in registration which would otherwise arise. The turret is constantly urged to a fixed initial position by a tensioned cable 80 on a spring drum 89. The switch lever 19 is interlocked with the hose nozzle to prevent the motor from being started until the nozzle is removed from its support. Moreover, the push-rod 99 actuated by the switch lever 19 carries an arm 113 which can engage between jaws 114 on the switch-actuating rod 115 and so operate the switch only while the turret is in its initial position, closure and opening of the switch thus being possible only for this position of the turret. Fixed lugs engageable by the arm 113 are provided to prevent angular movement of the turret while the switch is in its off position.. Means are also provided to compel resetting of the register before the turret can be turned from its initial position and to prevent resetting while the turret is in any other position. U.S.A.
