[Class 100 (ii)] In an addressing or like series printing machine in which a series of printing devices is fed in sequence along a guideway through a number of dwell positions, the feeding means comprise reciprocating feed devices which make two feeding strokes in each machine cycle, in the first of which a printing device is fed from a first printing position to an idle position and in the second of which the device is fed from the idle position to a second printing position, several impressions being made in accordance with the device at the first printing position in a machine cycle while an impression is made from another device at the second printing position in the same cycle. The feed mechanism may be arranged to feed only a selection of the printing devices in the guideway in one of the feed strokes and all the devices in the other stroke. Before reaching the first printing position, the printing devices may dwell at a sensing position at which co-operating sensing devices set up similar type matter at the two printing positions, in accordance with particular characteristics of the printing device. When printing plates are to be skipped, the printing platen at the first printing position is rendered inoperative to print and acts through a timing device to render the printing platen at the second printing position also inoperative.
