[Class 81 (ii)] An artificial hand comprises fingers which may be lined with pads e<1>-e<3> of rubber and a plate a the width of the hand which may be lined with rubber e'. The plate a is hinged at g and carries a curved extension member b. Pressure applied to the member b moves plate a away from the fingers against the action of springs d', d' to enable an object to be picked up. The object is gripped when the pressure on member b is removed.
