[Class 37] A selenium layer, in a rectifier, that has had an admixture of iodine, has the surface freed from iodine before application of a counterelectrode by treatment with liquids that remove the iodine. Liquids mentioned are :-water, ether, alcohol or sodium or potassium hydroxide which also remove surface impurities.
