Abstract

570,849. Drying peat &c. HEYL, G. E. July 1, 1943, No. 10725. [Class 34 (ii)] Peat &c. is dried by the passage therethrough of cold or heated air from a horizontallydisposed distributing cylinder upon which the peat is heaped. The cylinder, which may be from 6 to 18 inches in diameter and about 30 feet long, is made of wire netting with a covering of asbestos cloth and is closed at its ends by iron plates, one of the latter being fitted with an air pipe through which air is supplied, preferably at a pressure of 50 to 80 pounds per square inch and a temperature up to 250‹ C. The peat is protected from the weather during drying by a portable roof structure or a cover in the form of an inverted box.
