568,820. Cores for moulding hollow concrete beams. MASON, H. Aug. 21, 1943, No. 13672. [Class 87 (ii)] Fig. 2 shows a multi-part core comprising two semi-cylindrical inclined tubes d, made by dividing a steel tube and welding a strip or strips e across each flat face, and five wooden blocks f, h, k. When the concrete has set, the members k, hand f are pulled out endwise in that order, and then the (oiled or greased) tubes d are partly rotated and pulled out. For long beams, the parts may be in two sections meeting at the middle of the length of the beam. Fig. 3 shows a modification in which a plank rests on brackets n secured to the strips e ; the tubes d may lie with the strips e vertical. The brackets may be omitted, the plank then wedging in position.
