Abstract

In the manufacture of artificial leaves, flowers, flower petals and similar objects, a frame stamped or cut out from sheet material and having an outline conforming to the outline of the object is dipped into a solution or an emulsion of a film-forming substance and withdrawn with a thin film of the solution filling the space within the frame, so that, on evaporation of the solvent or liquid phase, a solid film is left on the frame. The dipping operation may be repeated in a solution which will not affect the film already formed. The frame may have internal parts, such as veins of leaves, integral with it. Plasticisers and colouring pigments may be added to the solution, if desired.
