[Class 53] Electrolyte pads for dry cells of the layer type are produced by forming a powdered mixture of dry electrolyte material and a gum into coherent tablets in a tableting machine. The mixture may comprise 40 per cent salammoniac, 30 per cent gum tragacanth and 30 per cent bentonite. The completed cells may be treated in a humidity chamber in order to introduce moisture, or moisture can be added to the individual cells just before assembly. Specification 564,264 is referred to.
