Abstract

<PICT:0567528/IV/1> <PICT:0567528/IV/2> A soft, flexible, perforated sheath of rubber or like elastic material, which offers substantial resistance to the passage of liquid therethrough, is inserted in the hollow centre of a cake of artificial thread and washing or other treatment liquid is forced through the sheath and thence to and through the cake. For the liquid treatment, one or more cakes with their sheaths may be placed on a central core or holder. The number and size of the perforations in the sheath are preferably small compared with those in the holder. In operation, the water or other liquid forces and maintains the sheath against the inside of the cake. As shown in Fig. 1, a holder 4 surrounds the clamp screw 1 and has perforations 5. Treating liquid is supplied to the interior of holder 4. Between the cakes 6 and the holder 4 there is provided a soft rubber sheath 7 which has perforations which are smaller in number and size than those of the holder. The holder may be disposed in a horizontal, vertical, or other position. As shown in Fig. 4, a separate holder 4 is provided for each cake 6. The rubber sheath 7 has perforations 8.
