[Class 75 (iv)] In a vehicle or other lamp of the type in which the enclosure for the light source is filled with air or other gas, an easily collapsable and expansible member communi. cating with the enclosure provides space for the gas filling to expand with rising tempera. ture. In the vehicle lamp shown in Fig. 1, the member con. sists of a sleeve 21 of soft rubber, oiled silk, &c. secured by rubber rings 22 between lamp cable 20 and a flange 23 on the reflector 11 surrounding the base 16 of the light bulb 17. Alternatively, as shown in Fig. 2, the base 16 is soldered to the reflector 11 and a rubber or silk bag 24 is attached to a tube 27 opening into the lamp reflector 11. In another construction, a bag is attached by a rubber ring to a flange surrounding an opening in the reflector. To eliminate moisture, the lamp may be flushed. with dry air and a getter such as calcium chloride may be disposed in the sleeve 21, bag 24, conduit 27, or on the cable connector member 19.
