Abstract

565,253. Electric induction furnaces. SWIFT, LEVICK, & SONS, Ltd., and HORSBURGH, G. D. L. June 8, 1943, No. 9173. [Class 39 (iii)] [Also in Group XXII] A closely-wound helical coil of small pitch, particularly a tubular coil for carrying electriccurrent and cooling fluid in an induction furnace, is formed with end turns in planes at right angles to the coil axis, so that the coil may be supported at the ends on a plane surface at right angles to the axis by winding the first turn on such a plane and cranking the material at the beginning 11 of each succeeding turn to offset it from the previous turn a distance equal to the coil pitch.
