563,914. Splicing wire ropes &c. HORAN, P. Feb. 17, 1943, No. 2673. Convention date, Jan. 31, 1942. [Class 109] A device for unwinding the strands of a wire rope, cable or the like to facilitate splicing comprises a fixed gripping member 26 and a rotatable gripper 20 held in any rotated position by a ratchet wheel 11 and pawl 16a. The gripping members 20, 26 may be arranged vertically, as shown, or horizontally, and may be grooved to correspond with the rope or cable' being spliced.
