Abstract
562,772. Trenching machines. SINCOCK, R. J. E. Jan. 6, 1943, Nos, 247 and 4529. [Class 6 (i)] In machines for laying gravel &c. in drains, disccutters 12 are succeeded by a turf-cutter 13, soil-remover 21, one or more sub-soil removers 22, gravel-depositor 25, and soil and turf replacing members. The soil and subsoil excavators 21, 22 lift and divert the material to different destinations, e.g. to opposite sides of the trench. The ground engaging edges of the members 13, 21, 22 may be renewable. The hopper-out let 27 has a curved end 28 and horizontal base - plate acting as a consolidator. Separate hoppers may be provided for successive discharges of gravel and ash. The cut turves pass to a conveyor 14 and are relaid at the rear after the soil has been replaced by an inclined plate 32. This operation may be followed by rolling. A cable 23 from the tractor may serve for height adjustment of the tool-carrying frame 9 relatively to the main chassis 1 and land wheels 3, 2. A similar connection may be used for varying the outlet of the gravel hopper. Sub-soil may be left at the trench side, or conveyed or diverted into an accompanying vehicle. The chassis 1 may carry the power unit.
