Abstract
560,644. Piezo-electric crystal mountings. AUTOMATIC TELEPHONE & ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and TERRONI, T. B. D. Oct. 7, 1942, No. 14106. [Class 40 (v)] A shock-proof mounting for a circular or other piezo-electric crystal plate 1 having electrodes on its major surfaces comprises two rings 2, 3 of stainless steel formed with shoulders 4, 5 for engaging the crystal electrodes near the periphery. The rings 2, 3 are held in clamping engagement with the crystal by means of springs 7, 8 attached by screws 9, 10 to the rings, and which are connected to pins 13 to serve as leads. The clamping pressure is increased by the engagement of the springs 7, 8 with the inside of an insulating protective cover 14. A guard ring 6 of insulating material is loosely held in position by the clamping rings 2, 3 and serves to prevent displacement of the crystal by mechanical shock.
