[Class 78 (iii)] The jack 21 is supported on a platform 20 suspended by rods 17, 18, 19 from a ring 23 supported on brackets 11, 12, 13 secured to the lower part 3 of a sleeve 1. The upper part 2 of the sleeve has hinged thereto supporting posts 5, 6, 7. When an object 32, such as an aeroplane wing, is to be raised, the platform 20 is raised until the completely retracted jack engages the lower end of a rod 31 which slides inside the sleeve 1. The platform 20 is supported in this raised position by keyhole slots 24 in the rotatable ring 23, the rods 17, 18, 19 being grooved at 22 for this purpose. The jack is then operated to its full extent to raise the rod 31 and object 32, the rod being maintained in the extended position by a pin 34 received in one of a series of holes 33 in the rod. The jack is then retracted, the platform 20 raised, and another lift given and so on. A spring-pressed plunger 30, engaging a recess in a journal in which rod 16 slides, locks the ring 23 in its platform-supporting position. Tie-rods 37 connect the part 3 to collars 8 fastened on the lower end of the posts ; the pin connection of the tie-rods with the collars is readily releasable, to permit folding of the device. Specification 559,197 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, states that the collars 8 are fastened on the posts by pins. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
