Abstract

558,956. Aminothiazole. BOOTS PURE DRUG CO., Ltd., SHORT, W. F., and KELLY, W. April 24, 1942, No. 5545. [Class 2 (iii)] 2-Aminothiazole is made by chlorinating acetaldehydedimethylacetal with approximately one molecular equivalent of chlorine and condensing the chlorination mixture which is believed to contain monochloracetaldehydedimethylacetal and α#-dichlorethylmethyl ether with thiourea in aqueous solution in the absence of an added condensing agent or organic solvent.
