[Class 45] A closure for a fence opening comprises runs of wire or chain 14, or a length of wire netting, which are attached at one end to a fixed post and at the other end to a rigid member 15 the foot of which is swingable about a socket 22 on a complementary fixed post 10. The member 15 carries at its top a lever catch 16 slotted at 17 to engage a pivot bolt 18 on the member. The member 15 can be turned away from the post 10 as shown to provide a gap through which a person can step, or may be . wholly removed from the post 10 and carried aside to increase the opening to allow of passage of a vehicle, &c. In shutting the closure the member 15 is turned about the socket 22 till a notch 19 in the lever 16 can take under a bail 20 attached to the post 10. A downward swing of the outer end of the lever 16 will then draw up the member 15 to vertical position and tension which may comprise a single wire trained over pulleys. member 15 to vertical position and tension the wires 14, which may comprise a single wire trained over pulleys. Holes 26, 27 in member 15 and lever 16 respectively then become superposed to allow of the insertion of a retaining peg or a padlock therethrough. The bottom of the member 15 is formed with shoulders 24 which limit passage of the said bottom end through the socket, and the parts are so designed that the member 15 when swung outward moves in the plane of the fixed posts. An incline 25 on the shank of the T-iron forming the member 15 sustains the latter in a sloping open position.
