Abstract
558,050. Wrist-joints for artificial arms. STEEPER, Ltd., H., and HOARE, D. C. Aug. 4, 1942, No. 10851. [Class 81 (ii)] ' In a wrist joint for artificial arms of the kind wherein a plate 16, on the hand or tool-carrying portion is provided with a stem 17, grooved at 5c, for the reception of a spring-urged catch lever 9, the hand being held in an angularly adjusted position by spring- urged balls 13 and locked therein by a locking pin 7, the plate 1 for securing to the forearm is centrally apertured at 1a, has holes 1b for the balls and a hole 1c for locking pin 7. To the back of the plate is secured a screwed ring 2 in which is secured a block 5 which carries the catch lever 9, spring-urged at 11. Straps 5, attached to plate 1, enable the latter to be fixed to the forearm socket and thus maintain in position a screw 15 which connects the ring 2 to the block 5. The locking pin 7 is manipulated by a rod 7a passing through a bayonet slot in the ring 2 and block 5 while the catch lever 9 is manipulated by a rod 9a.
