Abstract

557,816. Fluxes. LUCAS, Ltd., J., SILMAN, H., and STEIN, W. May 30, 1942, Nos. 7354 and 16726. [Class 82 (ii)] A soldering flux, particularly for use in soldering parts intended to carry electric currents, consists of a rosin flux having incorporated with it from 0.2 per cent. to 8 per cent. of a quaternary ammonium compound which contains an element of the halogen group and which is soluble in resin. The basis of the flux may be a solution. of about 24 per cent. of colophony in alcohol. The ammonium compound employed may be cetyl pyridinium bromide, a convenient commercial form of such compound being that known as "Fixanol C".
