556,994. Riveting. MONOGRAM MANUFACTURING CO. Aug. 10, 1942, No. 11182. Convention date. Aug. 23, 1941. [Class 44] A plate clamping device for use in riveting &c. comprises a hollow body 5 having an end 7 through which a bifurcated retaining pin 15a slides, being mounted by its head 17 in a headed sleeve 25 normally retracted by a spring confined between the head 28 and the end 7. A cap 9 crimped on to the body 5 confines by its head 20 a T-shaped spreader extending at 20b between the legs of the pin. The pin and spreader can rotate freely with respect to the rest of the device. The body is formed at 11 to receive a compressing tool by which the legs are caused to protrude beyond the spreader sufficiently to allow them to collapse and pass through the hole after which the spring returns the parts to the locking position of Fig. 5.
