Abstract

556,291. Cooling-towers. GILL, F. E., and DAVENPORT ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. June 26, 1942, No. 8773. [Class 64 (i)] In a cooling-tower having at its base a tray, tank or pond for the collection of the cooling water, air is admitted to the central portion of the tower through a number of substantially horizontal covered air ducts 7 located within the tank 6, communicating with the outside air and delivering the air above the water level. In the construction shown the inner ends of the ducts 7 open below a baffle 8 to prevent entrance of the falling water into the ducts, and may be offset in order to deliver the air above the water level.
