555,145. Gear cutting. FELLOWS GEAR SHAPER CO. Dec. 1, 1941, No. 8260/43. Convention date, Dec. 20, 1940. Drawings to Specification. Divided out of 555,120. [Class 83 (iii)] A machine for generating gears and like curved elements wherein a carrier supporting the work spindle is moved to roll the work past the cutter, has indexing means comprising a notched plate secured to the spindle which is subjected to constantly applied torque and is normally restrained by a pawl mounted on a carrier, the pawl being disengaged to permit indexing to occur at a predetermined point in the rolling movement. The machine embodiment is the same as that described in Specification 555,120 which is referred to.
