[Class 1 (i)] In the regeneration of catalysts by means of an oxygen-containing gas the combustion products withdrawn from the chamber 2 are subjected to a second burning operation in a combustion chamber 5, cooled in a heatexchanger 6, mixed with further oxygen through line 8 or 8a and recycled to the regeneration chamber.
